In 2016 Estadium started investigating the possibilities for a new state of the art Ice Rink in Amsterdam.

The rapidly growing Metropolis region presents new challenges and provides a demand for more, modern and better facilities. This resulted in a Sustainable, Operable and Realizable sports complex annex Transferium with accommodation facilities in Amsterdam Noord, next to the Amsterdam A10 ring road and the new Noordzuidlijn metrostation. In this total program, the new ice rink - which may possibly replace the current Jaap Eden rink - takes a prominent role. Together with the existing Golf Course and the Only Friends Complex, "Sportboog Noord" can be realized with facilities for the entire Metropolis region.

The "Sportboog Noord" plan is a private initiative and financial independent in realization and exploitation.

The plan for the ice rink in Noord is also fully supported and supported by Platform Schaatsend Amsterdam (PSA), the joint venture of the most important representatives from the various skating associations in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.

The development plan for the new Ice Rink is one of the two remaining locations within the municipality from which the municipal council will choose.
